Greater Fort Worth Chapter of PRSA Public Relations Student Scholarships

The Greater Fort Worth PRSA chapter invests in the future of the profession by awarding three scholarships to outstanding university students studying public relations. Each fall, one student from Abilene Christian University, Texas Christian University and the University of Texas in Arlington is awarded a $500 scholarship for their outstanding academic achievement and commitment to the practice of public relations.

Below are the criteria for the scholarship recipient. The university sponsor makes the final selection based on the criteria:

  • Undergraduate student in a public relations sequence;

  • Active member of the PRSSA organization;

  • Student must have a 3.0 GPA and completed 60 hours by June 1, prior to the fall semester for which the award is given; and

  • Candidates should meet the University's minimum criteria for receiving financial aid.

For more information, please contact the PRSSA sponsor at your school.

Silver Spur

Greater Fort Worth PRSA will partner with the Texas Public Relations Association (TPRA) to sponsor the 2008 Silver Spur/Best of Texas Awards Competition.

Chapter members may enter at the "member" rate, a savings of 50 percent of the non-member rate. The chapter will receive a share of the contest proceeds.

The Silver Spur/Best of Texas Awards Competition is the only statewide contest for Texas public relations practitioners and recognizes excellence in programs, projects and tactics.

This year’s contest has two entry deadlines: “First Call” is 5 PM, Jan. 17, 2008.  “Last Call” is 5 PM, Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, and each Last Call entry must be accompanied by a $50 late fee.  Silver Spur and Best of Texas Awards will be presented at the annual awards banquet, Saturday, March 1 during TPRA's Annual Conference in San Antonio.

Information on the contest and conference now available at www.tpra.com.

For more information e-mail awards@tpra.com or contact Julie B. Fix, APR, at 281-494-6097.

Contest Judging

The Greater Fort Worth Chapter of PRSA would be honored to judge your chapter's annual award contest.  However, we do not have a contest of our own to trade-out judging responsibilities. Therefore, we do not form typical partnerships.

The Greater Fort Worth Chapter of PRSA will judge your contest as a service, for a fee.
Our contest judging fee is $300, with a limit of 100 total entries.

If you are interested in having the Greater Fort Worth Chapter of PRSA judge your annual contest, and these conditions are satisfactory with your chapter please contact Stephanie Mitchell at smitchell@novikoff.com or 817-535-0826 (ext. 123).
